Project #1

Welcome to Photo 11-12 every one! This semester will be very busy so it is very important that we all work together. The first task that you will be doing is building a blog. The Blog is a communication tool that links you to me. All projects you do will be uploaded to this blog. I will mark all your projects on your blog. As a procautionary measure make sure you save your projects to my documents or on your flash drive. There are no exscuses for not having your work saved some where. (do not save your work to my pictures on the computer)   There will be times when you have questions regarding the technology that I may not be able to answer and there may be times where you can answer my questions. I will do my best if I don't know the answer to find it out for you. But you will have to be patient. Many of the programs we will be using this year are new to me as well. The following are a list of expectations for this semester - Arrive on time with a good attitude.

Project 1

Creating Your Own Blog (Assignment #1) In Photography 11-12 you will use a blog account to present all your work. Signing up for a blog is a very simple process, and only takes minutes of your time. A blog is an excellent way to display your photos with no cost to you. Your blog account will be a valuable tool for you to use through out the semester. It will be your communication tool for specific assignments and links to valuable web sites. It will also be a means of assessment for your teacher. Before you begin you will create your own blog. Your blog must contain the following: 1. a proper URL 2. A blog title that contains your name ie. John Smith's Visual Arts no nicknames please! 3.You must be linked to Mr. Mueller's blog by following the instructions on the wall.                  4. you must report your URL to Mr. Mueller so he can be linked to you.                      5. The History of Photography - Assignment # 2                                                          For this project, you will create a short photo presentation. It should have a minimum of 500 words with 10 photo’s from the categories below. Your subject can be on the following: -History -Evolution of technology in photography.   -The impact photography has had on the history of the world. For example - how it was used to change the world? - Choose a famous photographer and do a biography include photos of his work, and explain why how his photos have affected the world. Your presentation must have at least 10 photos with references.   Write up                  /25 Photos                    /50   Total Mark          /75  

Project 3

Composition Workbook Composition, Arrangement and, Balance Objective: Create a small book that is a collection of photographic compositions. It should include at least 18 photographs. Materials:  8X11" paper, magazines, glue scissors, etc. Using Magazines (not the computer) to find at least one example of the following types of composition (see below) Be sure to include the whole photo image, do not cut out part of the photo, or reshape it by cutting it. No pictures with words over them! So be careful with adds, they often they often have words or slogans over the images. Use only real photographs, no digitally altered or animated collages . No photographs that are really images of paintings or drawings. Craftsmanship is an important part of the grade, so be neat and do label each photo with its composition type. Basic 35mm Camera Orientation In this project you will be responsible for completing  a camera orientation of the camera you will be using to take pictures. Composition Arrangement and Balance Using your Composition Arrangement and Balance booklet for reference, take your camera and take photos using the following terms. Remember rule of thirds should be considered in most photographs. Pay special attention to what camera functions will best suit the shot you are looking for, and experiment with your aperture and shutter speed settings. Have fun you are now taking pictures. When you are complete down load your photo's and save them to your storage device, and post on to your blog. Assignment #6 Understanding the Elements of Photography       For this assignment you will incorporate some of the elements and principles of photography into your images. Find examples of lines, patterns movement, texture, extreme lighting, and selective focus. Use them to create strong images with  solid contrast. Read the handout carefully and submit 4 images for each composition style. Make sure you label each picture and what elements or principles your picture represents. Please make sure you are making your photograph's interesting. Be creative! And be sure that your photo follows the criteria. And remember when you are asked to take a picture of texture....dont give me the literal form. In your picture "Texture" should be the main element but not the only aspect of the photo.
